This beautifully substantial bracelet is inspired by nature and embraces the subtle yet intense beauty of the primary color of nature...green. The five-strand African Turquoise, Czech Glass, and Brass Heishi Bracelet showcases gold, brass, and bronze hues that naturally play so well with green. From tiny, intensely sparkling bronze spacers to luxe brushed gold metal heishi beads dancing with a myriad of green Czech glass beads in fire-polished finish, matte, and crystal, and stunning variations of the African Turquoise, which is actually jasper, not turquoise. Still, it is a beautiful standalone gemstone with exquisite and subtle color variations, including turquoise blue, green-blue, and deep green...this bracelet really has it going on! The strands are attached to a magnetic tube clasp in a vintage bronze oxide finish. Gold-filled wire guards and jump rings. Finished with a gorgeous 24k gold-plated pewter feather designed by Nunn Designs (USA) and my signature SUZANNA gold logo tag. More photos to come.

African turquoise is a fascinating stone, but despite its name, it is not actually turquoise—it’s a variety of jasper. It has a similar blue-green appearance with dark veining, often resembling traditional turquoise, but its composition is different.

Properties of African Turquoise

African turquoise is a form of jasper, composed of chalcedony with inclusions of copper and iron. It has a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7, making it more durable than true turquoise. Its color varies from greenish-blue to earthy tones, and it is often chemically treated to enhance its vibrancy.

Historical Significance

While not as historically revered as true turquoise, African turquoise has gained popularity for its symbolism of transformation and evolution. It is often associated with personal growth and change, making it a favorite among those seeking spiritual development.

Symbolism

African turquoise is linked to the third eye chakra, believed to enhance foresight and wisdom. It is thought to help individuals navigate life changes with confidence and clarity. Some cultures also view it as a stone of protection and grounding, connecting the wearer to ancestral wisdom.
