It was here that David and Sheila Siddle established Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage in 1983. The sanctuary’s origins trace back to the remarkable recovery of a badly wounded chimpanzee named “Pal”, whose story resonated globally. In 1993-95, Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage officially became a trust, solidifying its commitment to sustainability. Since then, Chimfunshi has remained a sanctuary for primates and endangered wildlife, showcasing a dedication to conservation that spans across continents.
